The Shenandoah Valley Tractor Pullers Association was organized in 1990 by combining three stock-tractor pulling clubs: Valley Pullers, Tri-County Pullers, and Sledco. In 1994, SVTPA joined the National Garden Tractor Pullers Association which helped to unify rules and safety regulations nationwide. The club moved to the American Tractor Pulling Association in the late 90's, and is now associated with the Lucas Oil Pro Pulling League.
SVTPA holds about 12-16 pulling events each season for non-profit organizations engaged in fund-raising efforts, the State Fair of Virginia, and several other county fairs. While we primarily hold pulls across Virginia, we do occasionally venture into Maryland, Pennsylvania, West Virginia and North Carolina.
Our club considers garden tractor pulling to be a family-oriented sport, with pullers as young as 8 years old. Our goal is to have clean, competitive fun with our hobby while promoting the sport of tractor pulling, with safety always in mind. We love to put on a great show for our supporters, young and old; we offer a variety of classes of Stock, Stock Altered, Modified, Motorcycle, and V8 tractors, to keep our viewers engaged and entertained. The SVTPA-owned "Hammer" sled is licensed, inspected and insured by the North American Sled Owners Association to provide the safest environment possible for participants and spectators.
